7 for 2025: Sock-Centric Resolutions for the New Year

I don’t know about you, but somehow 2024 seemed to fly by. Maybe it’s because we’ve all been trapped in a slowly revolving circle and time is merely an illusion?

Whatever the reason, it’s once again the time of year to set goals and make resolutions. Whether that’s getting outside more, finishing that stack of books or investing in some new Merino Wool socks, now is the perfect time to set some sock-related resolutions to give your feet the best in 2025.

After careful consideration, and knowing myself, here are my sock-centric goals for the new year.

Buy Athletic Socks, Do Athletic Stuff

It’s not like you have to have official athletic socks to go to the gym, go on a run or take a pilates class, but it may be the final missing piece in your motivation. At least, that’s been my excuse lately. “Sorry, can’t run because I don’t have running socks!”

I mean, Darn Tough run and athletic socks do wick moisture, have a performance fit, and offer bunch-free comfort, so if I’m going to exercise more next year, that’s where I’ll start.

Dip a Toe into Crocs with Socks

I don’t know whether to be ashamed for wearing Crocs or for finally getting on board with these colorful foot-mallows. But as a recent Croc convert, and someone who has previously preached the comfort of socks with Birkenstocks, the obvious next evolution is to sync up my Crocs with a cushy pair of Merino Wool socks.

Is it too much of a stretch to commit to wearing Crocs with socks every day in 2025? Only time will tell.

Convert 1-3 People into Darn Tough Evangelists

We already know and love Darn Tough socks for their durability, comfort and lifetime guarantee. But what about the rest of your family, extended family and co-workers? Have they been enlightened yet? Knowing this information and not sharing it just seems rude, to be honest.

In 2025 I want to convert at least three other people away from their fancy outdoor socks to something so good, so comfortable, they’ll never look back, and they'll thank me later.

Donate Socks to Someone Who Needs Them

It doesn’t take much to realize there are a lot of unhomed people out there. And while access to used clothing is still an issue, one of the biggest hurdles is fresh, clean socks.

Next time you’re buying a pair of Darn Toughs, why not grab a second pair and donate them to a local shelter? I’m sure someone will be stoked.

Find that Missing Sock

One time I was wearing a pair of fleece pants that I hadn’t worn in a couple months and there was something bulky behind my ankle. I reached down and pulled out a Darn Tough sock. The other one had been sitting on my dresser for months—a sad reminder of my laundry failure.

All this is to say, don’t give up hope on finding those missing socks. They have to be out there SOMEWHERE.

Wear Mismatched Socks in Public

The key to making any kind of fashion statement is confidence. Spaced out and put your shirt on backwards? Trend-setter. Mis-matched your socks because you folded laundry in the dark? Roll with it.

Next time I find myself in this situation, I'm ready to play it off like I did it on purpose. Who knows? Might even mess around and start a new movement.

Set a Hardwood Floor Sock Slide Record

A brief Google search didn’t offer up too much info about the world record hardwood floor sock slide, but it’s something we all do at home. So, by my thinking, that record is up for the taking.

There is so much work-from-home time going around, I think we should start making it a little more competitive and productive (in terms of obscure world records anyway). Bonus points for setting the record with a drink in your hand.

Happy New Year

While lofty resolutions are easy to think of, they are also the hardest to accomplish because they are so ambiguous. Setting more specific goals not only makes them more manageable but makes you feel better for achieving a goal—like writing a to-do list with a bunch of easy things.

So however you decide to enter the new year, let’s do it with an optimistic outlook because at the end of the day, we’re all in this together. And if you choose to enter the new year with a hardwood floor sock slide, please tag our Instagram in all video evidence.
