Women's Ski & Snowboard Socks

Women’s ski socks and snowboard socks to keep toes and feet warm and dry, whether your preferred venue is nordic, alpine, backcountry, or backyard. From barely-there styles to warmer cushioned options for colder days, our women’s snow socks are designed to match how and where you ski or ride.

What Weight Should You Choose for Women's Merino Wool Ski Socks?

Durability, breathability, and adaptive warmth – just three reasons Merino Wool makes the best ski socks for women. Merino Wool balances natural insulation with temperature regulation and moisture wicking. The result? It keeps your feet comfortable for a long day on the mountain.

We knit our ladies Snow socks with different yarn weights to create everything from a super thin sock to our warmest women's snowboarding socks built for colder days.

If you prefer a lightweight, next-to-skin feel, our high performance ultralight snow socks are a top choice of serious skiers and snowboarders. Still a thin ski sock, a Lightweight pair of socks has a bit more to it that's still perfect if you ski light. For extra in-boot comfort, choose one of our Midweight ski socks – they're comparatively thicker socks, all knit with ski targeted cushion. If keeping your feet warm is the priority, Midweight styles are the better fit for colder days on the slope.

How Much Cushion Do You Need in Women's Padded Ski Socks?

In addition to different weights, we also knit a range of cushion sock options. Cushion is created by Terry loops, which adds wool padding in key zones.

Our No Cushion ladies' styles have no Terry loop padding, while our Cushion styles add padding underfoot. Except for a few Nordic Boot styles designed for cross-country skiing, most of our women's winter socks are knee high - so even a No Cushion style provides Merino warmth, comfort, and breathability up and over the calf.

Styles like the Function X and Edge also feature a padded shin to protect your leg in ski or snowboard boots. Choose based on where you want the extra padding. Targeted cushion around the underfoot or shin can add comfort at common boot pressure points without adding cushion throughout the entire sock.

Cute Snowboard & Ski Socks for Women

When your boots do come off, Merino’s anti-odor properties mean the socks don’t have to. So go ahead and style those polar bear socks (or the yeti socks – we can never pick our favorite) around the lodge. The best socks are the ones you don't notice when your boots are on but are cute and comfy enough to keep wearing once your boots come off.

Good-looking snowboard socks still need to perform. Merino Wool helps wick moisture and regulate temperature, while a close performance fit and durable construction keep the focus on your turns, not what’s happening inside your boots.

The best women’s ski socks are made from Merino Wool. Darn Tough ski socks keep feet dry and select styles are knit with terry loop cushioning in the shin for added comfort in ski boots. They’re also naturally odor resistant and reinforced around the heel and Achilles for multi-season durability.

You only need to wear one pair of ski socks on the mountain, but we recommend bringing at least two pairs if you’re going on a trip. Darn Tough Merino Wool ski socks are engineered for multi-day use but having an extra pair will make switching socks after a long day a soothing reward.

Darn Tough ski socks are made from Merino Wool, with Nylon and Elastane (spandex) strategically added in for the right fit and extra durability. The inherent qualities of Merino Wool – like being able to wick moisture – with its lightweight composition make it the best material to knit ski socks with. Strategically knitting Merino Wool with Nylon and Elastane adds durability and stretch while leveraging Merino Wool’s moisture and temperature management for a close, lasting fit.

The warmest ski socks are Midweight and have terry loop cushioning in the shin and supportive cushioning underfoot. Darn Tough Merino Wool ski socks are designed to keep you warm in the coldest conditions. We test our socks in Vermont’s coldest winters to ensure they keep you warm wherever you ski. Note: more thickness isn’t always better if it makes your boots too tight; warmth also depends on maintaining a comfortable boot fit to allow for good circulation.

Your ski socks should be thick enough to keep you warm but not so thick they limit range of motion or restrict circulation in your legs. Think of the right socks as part of your ski gear system; they should work with your boots and layers, not against them. Darn Tough knits ski socks ranging in thickness, with our Midweight socks being the thickest and our Ultra-Lightweight being the thinnest. Choose based on your boot volume, conditions, and how warm your feet naturally run. A thinner pair may be more comfortable for a skier with close-fitting boots, while midweight socks add warmth for colder days.
