Unrivaled Durability

We make one thing, and we make it better than anyone else – ask any thru hiker and you will likely hear the same. In order to unconditionally guarantee a hiking sock for life, it must be durable. It must maintain its comfort, and it has to fit for miles upon miles on-trail. The socks that do return through warranty inform how we can improve. And we do. Our guarantee is a promise to you, but it’s a standard for us. We have yet to produce our best sock, but we get better with every step.

Love the pine color, need more size small stock

"I love the fit, feel, and especially color (pine) of these socks. In fact, as soon as I got my first batch, I came back to order more. But, alas, you are out of stock in size men's small for these socks and have been for a couple of weeks. Please get more in stock in my size ASAP!!!"

Love these socks!

"I love promoting the Appalachian Trail with these socks. They are comfortable, no rubs and no itching. They hold up under long hiking days and wash with no issues. The midweight hiking socks are my "go to" for hiking in all types of weather and trail conditions."

Dependable trail sock — comfortable, durable, and built with purpose. !

"The Darn Tough ATC Micro Crew Midweight Hiking Socks are everything I want in a dependable trail sock — comfortable, durable, and built with purpose. The merino wool blend feels fantastic right from the first wear: soft, breathable, and great at regulating temperature whether I’m climbing in cool morning air or moving fast in the afternoon sun. The midweight cushion hits the sweet spot, giving me support without ever feeling bulky. What really stands out is how well these socks stay put. No slipping, no bunching, no hotspots — just a secure, comfortable fit that lasts for miles. The seamless construction is classic Darn Tough: smooth, irritation‑free, and clearly made with long-distance hikers in mind. I also love that this ATC edition supports the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. The centennial logo looks sharp, and knowing that part of the purchase goes toward trail conservation makes the socks feel even better to wear. After multiple hikes, they still look and feel brand new — no stretching out, no thinning, no wear spots. These socks are built to last, and they absolutely earn their reputation. If you want a reliable, comfortable, purpose-driven hiking sock, the ATC Micro Crew Midweight is an easy 10/10. I’d buy them again without hesitation."

Good lookin, good walkin

"These socks look great, and have the same comfort I've some to expect from the micro crew offerings from Darn Tough. I'm only two days wear into them, but I'm very happy so far. Thanks Darn Tough!"

"Thicker than expected for mid weight but great. Also a bit larger than expected. Too big for me but my son loves them!"

Four Days, One Pair — Still No Stink

"I put these socks on Wednesday morning for work and didn’t rotate them out until Saturday night. In between: full days on landscaping job sites, running, hiking, and operating heavy equipment in the mud. Sandals, work boots, tennis shoes — didn’t matter. Four straight days of hard use and they never stank, never bunched, never let my feet get sweaty or cold. Just cozy and comfortable the whole way through. I’m a landscaper by trade, so my boots aren’t for show — they get buried in mud for a living. I’ve put a lot of socks through this test, and most fail by day two. Darn Tough is the only brand I trust to keep up with how I actually live and work. Worth every penny, and the lifetime warranty means I’ll probably never buy another brand again."

Q&A

I usually get my socks from the local REI or Mast store but weill occasionally order from the site if I find a pattern or style I like that isn’t available at the store or if they don’t have my size. Are these available at stores or just online?
