Great sock, a little tight for bigger calves.

"I love this pattern! The padding on the bottom is quite similar to any hiker's crew sock, there's no shin padding it's the same thickness on the top all the way around. To me that's important because I wear these boy-scout style in the summer to keep ticks away while hiking in the northeast USA, (I also treat them with permethrin. ) My only criticism which knocks them down a star would be that they don't fit comfortably around my 17" calves which creates compression which I really dont need except for maybe long flights. I have had numerous other DT patterned socks in this range which have fit just fine but these I really have to stretch. For example I have the Snowpack OTC version with the stripes and they fit perfectly, dont sag, and have plenty of give left around the calf. That said I love the mountain pattern, the green and red colors and just wish they fit big calves slightly better."
