I called Darn Tough and they sent me a return label and replaced those with two more XL Winter socks that were even more expensive at no extra charge, even though I made the mistake. "I got these in the largest kid's size and my kid's shoe size is in the range but upon the first wash these shrunk down and got alarmingly snug. I know from past experience they will give some with wearing but it didn't seem like they were as preshrunk as I would have hoped (yes I followed the care instructions)."
