Old Military Dude with High Sock Expectations

"I’m still in the military and just turned 40. I’ve always been very particular about socks, coming from the infantry with tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, but now that I’m older, I’ve been on a mission to find the best pair. I decided to buy a few pairs of these just to give them a try. Within the first few hours of wearing them on the first day, I jumped back on the Darn Tough website and ordered enough for a week, a few backups, and some for my close Battle Buddies. These socks have exceeded my expectations. Paired with some massage insoles, they’ve been an absolute game changer. I walk on clouds now. BTW, I’ve tried all of the other brands of socks (Hawx, Red Wing, Carhartt, and Fox River). None of these stand a chance against Darn Tough. I pack light, so I threw all of those other socks away just to make Darn Sure I only wear Darn Tough. If you’re tempted, do yourself a favor- just buy them. You’ll be amazed."

Not the Same Socks!?! :(

"These are different now, also. I just reviewed my T4021 socks and feel the same about these. I have had these socks for some years now, had to warranty exchange them for new ones and. . . they're different. They feel more synthetic & less merino wool, they're not as soft to the touch. . . they are just not the same! I remember the first set I put on thinking I wish I had these when I was young & on active duty. The replacements feel closer to GI socks now than they do compared to the original Darn Toughs I bought. Did the "ingredients" of the socks change from 2014?"

Fantastic socks.

"These are great socks. It turns out wool socks are a great idea. These midweight socks have great cushion. Not too much, not too little. I don't care for thin weight socks or socks that have a tight toe box. I want some cushion. These socks seem very durable. I'm a huge fan. I also like that these are solid black. This is a buy it for life product, not that socks last a lifetime literally, but these are as close to that as you can get in a sock. I'm leaving this review in particular because I am so impressed."

What’s the difference between the T4021 and T4022
Both Boot socks measure about 11" off the heel and will have cushion underfoot and around the leg. The T4021Tactical Boot Cushion is our midweight option and will have no cushion on top of the foot. The T4022 Tactical Boot Full Cushion is a midweight option where the cushion wraps around the foot and up the leg.
How does the new mid weight tactical socks differ from the previous models?
This style has not changed from previous models. The names of all our socks have been changed to match our packaging.
