HOMETOWN: Akron, NY | HOME BASE: Raleigh, North Carolina
Hi! I'm Fawn Dorr. I'm a professional 400m hurdler, journalist, and avid outdoorsman. I grew up in Akron, a tiny town outside of Buffalo, New York. I spent my childhood summers at my family's hunting and fishing tourist resort, Temagami Riverside Lodge, located in northern Canada. I grew up kayaking, fishing, catching bull frogs, and counting shooting stars. When back at school in New York, I was always running. I participated in cross country and track where I became the New York State Champion in the 400m hurdles my senior year. My freshman year of college, I attended SUNY Cortland University. After winning the D3 NCAA Championships in my respective event, I accepted an athletic scholarship to Pennsylvania State University where I finished out my degree in print journalism. I went on to earn nine Big Ten Championship titles and was an 11-time NCAA All American. I still hold the university record in the 400m hurdles. Two weeks after finishing my eligibility as a collegiate athlete, I signed my first endorsement deal at the USA Championships where I placed 3rd.
I've been a pro athlete since 2010, where I've since gone on to qualify for two Olympic Teams. When I'm not running, a huge part of who I am lives in the great outdoors. Every summer, during my off season, my three best friends and I climb mountains, hike canyons, and kayak for days. The wilderness has always served to reminded me of the most genuine parts of myself. Whether I'm jumping hurdles at top speed, or I'm hiking across Yosemite National Park, I need socks that are as tough as me. That's why I wear Darn Tough Socks!
